Public Invited To Submit Nominations For Volunteer Awards

2009 Spirit of Family Award RecipientEach year the Hanover County Board of Supervisors recognizes the “Spirit of Volunteerism” of many outstanding volunteers. These annual awards are a time-honored Hanover tradition that celebrate and highlight the significant impact citizens and volunteer groups provide through their volunteer service.

"Spirit of Volunteerism" award winners for 2009.

This year the public is invited to nominate someone or a group for the countywide Spirit of Volunteerism Awards. March 1 is the deadline to submit nominations.

You may nominate inspiring individuals or groups of any age whether they serve small or large organizations, schools, neighborhoods, government, faith-based community initiatives or civic-led community outreach. Categories are: individual, youth, family, group, senior or business. Self-nominations are also accepted.

H1N1 Virus (Swine Flu) Information
The Virginia Health Department (VDH) has set up a Public Inquiry Center to answer questions about this virus. The call center phone number is 1-877-275-8343. The line will be answered during the State’s business hours and the use can be expanded if circumstances warrant. 

H1N1 vaccinations are available for free to the public at the Hanover County Health Department Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information call 365-4313.
