Patrick Henry of "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" fame is our most famous Hanoverian. A program entitled "Patrick Henry: The Voice of Liberty" will be held in the historic Hanover Courthouse where he first gained fame. Henry's arguments in the "Parson's Cause" took placed on December 1, 1763. During this case, Henry thundered against the King of England's disavowal of a law passed by the Virginia House of Burgesses. The case transformed Henry from an obscure country lawyer to a political leader and established part of the foundation for the American Revolution. "Patrick Henry: The Voice of Liberty" will begin at 11 a.m. and last 45 minutes. The program is staged by The Parson's Cause Foundation Inc., a non-profit corporation whose mission is to sponsor re-enactments of and promote the historical importance of Patrick Henry and The Parson's Cause.
