Citizen Survey

In the spring of 2011, Hanover County contracted with The National Research Center to conduct a Citizens Survey.

The National Research Center surveys residents of counties, cities and towns throughout the United States – about 500 local governments nationwide use a similar product.

The National Research Center conducted Citizens Surveys in Hanover County in 2005 and 2008 prior to the 2011 survey. The same basic questions were asked in each survey, allowing trends to be analyzed. The County also compares its results with those realized by other local governments nationwide and also in a subset of Southern states. Three questions that are 'unique' to Hanover County were also asked.

Results of the 2011 Citizens Survey were reported to the Board of Supervisors in November 2011. The plan is to conduct another Citizens Survey in 2014, maintaining a three-year cycle.
