
Hanover's Promise-The Alliance For Youth
Hanover's Promise, the Alliance for Youth is based within the Department and is focused on promoting and enhancing collaborative community efforts to ensure that all children and youth are provided the five fundamental resources they need to succeed:
- Ongoing Relationships with Caring Individuals
- Safe Places with Structured Activities
- Healthy Start and Future
- Marketable Skills through Effective Education
- Opportunities to Give Back through Community Service
Hanover’s Promise includes representatives of Hanover County government, schools, businesses, the faith-based community, civic clubs and human service agencies. Hanover Named One of the 100 Best Communities For Young People
The efforts of Hanover County civic and community leaders were honored on September 21, 2010 when America’s Promise Alliance (the Alliance), the nation’s largest partnership organization dedicated to youth and children, announced Hanover County had been named a winner of the Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People (100 Best) competition presented by ING. Its 2010 recognition marks the third win for Hanover County in the competition. Hanover was one of eight localities in Virginia and one of only two in Central Virginia to receive the recognition.
