EMS Training

The Division of Training is responsible for providing the coordination and delivery of education and training programs for both the Fire and the Emergency Medical Service community for the purpose of protecting our citizens against the loss of life and property. We provide training to approximately 700 Hanover volunteers, staff and citizens. We have a newly placed EMT-B and FF I & II program through the Hanover County School system and housed at Hanover High School and  highly successful EMT – Basic and Paramedic programs that we run in conjunction with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College held at the Harman – Taylor Training Center. The Training Center is located just west of the Town of Ashland off Route 54. It is a full service fire training facility consisting of classrooms, Class A Burn Building, and a variety of firefighting and hazardous material training props. This facility serves as the home of the Hanover Fire Academy where on average 2 full 6 month fire academies are held per year. This is a program recognized nationally for its proficiency in creating competent firefighters.  The Division of Training is primarily housed at the Harman – Taylor Training Center located at 13038Winston Road in Ashland, VA, for more information call (804) 798-7864.
