Beginner Bellydance

Ages 18 and up. An ancient dance form that provides the student with an outlet for creativity and enhanced self-confidence as well as improving muscle tone and flexibility. Basic bellydance movements are covered as well as body awareness and muscles isolation techniques. Movements are taught individually and then added together to create a step-combination. Over the course of the class we will put together a full dance using the steps combinations and transitions we have learned.

Bellydance Fusion

Ages 18 and up. Bellydancing is great for fitness, developing muscle control and physical strength, but so are many other dance forms! In this four week class we will use bellydance steps as the basis for each class and then add movements from flamenco, ballet, jazz, folkloric dance (and maybe a little hip-hop) to enhance our dance fun. Movements taught will be used to develop a short routine. Go home knowing you have danced without the stress of a performance! Please wear comfortable clothing. A long skirt and hip scarf are welcome, but not necessary. Beginners and Advanced Beginners are welcome.

Pilates with Props

Ages 13 and up. If you have never experienced a Pilates class or want to add a challenge to your current Pilates program, then this is for you. Come experience the 10/20/30 rule of Joseph H. Pilates. With patience, practice & persistence, In just 10 classes you can feel the difference, in 20 you can see the difference and in 30 you can have a whole new body. This class combines core strengthening Pilates exercises with props (resistance bands, light dumbbells, and a small flexibility ball). First we begin with the basics and then I challenge you further by combining Pilates exercises with props to really enhance

Aikido

Ages 18 and up. 'Ai' means harmony. 'Ki' means energy. 'Do' means way or path. In Aikido, we move in harmony with the movement of an opponent rather than in conflict with them. Thus, the structure of conflict is changed to a structure of harmony with the goal being a resolution without anyone getting hurt. In this class you will gain an understanding of the fundamental principals of Aikido, how Aikido can be used to resolve conflicts in a non-combative way and study the general principals of self-defense. You will study and practice the specific Aikido techniques leading to Sixth Kyu, the first level of rank. To purchase a Karate gi uniform (optional) please add $40 to the below fee. These classes are conducted on real golf course type conditions and are designed for beginning golfers and for those who have been playing who wish a refresher on the basics of the game. This class is ideal for men, women and older juniors (14 and up) and families who wish to attend together.
