What can I do with Discover Recreation Online?
- View programs and availability
- Register or waitlist for programs
- View facilities available for rent
- View account details and history
In order to register for a program online, you need your Login ID, Account PIN, an email address and a valid credit card such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. If you have registered for a Hanover County Parks and Recreation program or have rented a facility since 2008, you already have a Login ID and Account PIN.
You may call the Hanover County Parks and Recreation office at (804)365-7150 Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm or if you have an email address on file you can use the "Forgot My Password" function in the "My Account" tab. This info will then be immediately emailed to you.
If you have not registered for a Hanover County Parks and Recreation program since 2008, you may create a new account online and request it to be activated by selecting the "My Account" tab and clicking the "Request New Account" button.
Can I register a child/person from another family online?
Due to the confidentiality of Login ID and PIN and legal liability, the main contact of the account (that the child is a member of), should be the person responsible for registering the child. Account members must be part of the same immediate family and all financially responsible to the main account contact. Friends or relatives without internet access can register by walk in or mail in.
What if online I see there are no spaces available in the program I want?
You can add your name to the waitlist for the program by clicking on the "Waitlist" button. This does not commit you to the program if space becomes available. You will be contacted if a spot comes available and you may then register or decline.
If online I see a facility is available to rent, what is the next step I take?
Shelter reservations are taken up to one year in advance. Presently, shelter reservations cannot be made online. Complete a Shelter Reservation Form and submit it with payment to the Department in one of the following methods:
- Walk In: Cash (exact change only), Check, Credit Card
- Mail In: Check, Credit Card
- Drop Box (located at Pole Green Community Center and Taylor Complex): Check, Credit Card

Hanover County Public Schools Inclement Weather Use of Facilities Policy:
The extended period of inclement weather combined with the differences in weather conditions that may exist from one end of the county to another, encourages a position that supports flexible use of facilities. When schools are closed on Friday, all activities are cancelled for Friday. The status of Saturday/Sunday events, however, falls to the discretion of the school principal to allow or disallow activities as originally scheduled. Factors to be considered are safety related. We do not wish to jeopardize the safety of anyone, nor place anyone in a libelous position by allowing access to school property when conditions are not safe due to snow or ice.
What do I do if I need special accommodations?
Hanover County Parks and Recreation encourages individuals with disabilities to participate in any program or class offered through the Department. If any special assistance is needed to participate in a program, please contact our Recreation Coordinator (Therapeutic) at (804) 365-7150 at least 15 days prior to the start of the program to further discuss these needs.
