Hanover Parks & Recreation Master Plan
Hanover County Parks & Recreation is preparing a comprehensive master plan for all of its parks and facilities. The purpose of the master plan is to provide the County with a long term vision for its park system, by identifying community needs and creating a plan of action to implement needed improvements and additions to the existing parks system. The plan will also include a strategy for funding the capital improvements, and for ongoing operation and maintenance of new and existing facilities.
Community input has been solicited through a citizen survey, community input meetings and facility inventory analysis to guide the steering committee, made up of Hanover Parks & Recreation staff and planning consultants from Clough Harbor & Associates, with direction for parks, trails, recreation and natural resource stewardship for the next 10 to 20 years.
Check back often, we will be updating this page frequently.
Here is the latest draft of the Master Plan. Please take the opportunity to review this draft, as we continue to make updates and edits through the review process.
A public meeting will be held on Monday December 14th, at 7:00pm at the Mechanicsville Library located at 7461 Sherwood Crossing Place, Mechanicsville 23111. Once reviewed by the public, the plan will be on the agenda for endorsement at the January 25, 2010 Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission’s meeting, and then will go to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
