Inclement Weather/Hours of Operation

All County parks will close as necessary during inclement weather conditions. Whenever Hanover County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, the parks will also be closed. All County parks are open daily from dawn until dusk throughout the year. Athletic field lighting provides extended hours at Pole Green Park, Courthouse Park, Montpelier Park, and Poor Farm Park.

Please Help Keep Our Parks Clean

Hanover County Animal Control and the Parks and Recreation Department are asking everyone who brings their pets to Hanover Park areas to clean up any animal waste left on public property and dispose of it properly. Additionally, we request that all animals be kept on a leash or tether while on public park grounds. An Animal Control Officer will be patrolling park areas in an effort to educate animal owners to be more responsible and to respect the public safety and health needs of the community by cleaning up after their animals and making sure they are leashed.
