This rink was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Barton in memory of their sons Matthew and Daniel. Matthew was a student at Pearson's Corner Elementary School and active in the Central Virginia Youth Roller Hockey League in Ashland , Virginia . Matthew Barton died of cancer on April 17, 1998 at age 10. Daniel was born August 30, 1989 and died March 23rd, 2009 at the age of 19 from Epilepsy. Daniel was a freshman at J. Sargent Reynolds Community College where he was majoring in Criminal Justice. He was awarded a Career Studies Certificate in Criminal Justice from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College on May 17, 2009. This project has brought joy to the Barton family, as they rekindle their memory for all to share in both of their love for life and the sport that brought them happiness.
