Youth Summer ProgramTwo children with dodgeballs

The Youth Summer Program is a recreational program held during the summer at elementary and middle school sites throughout Hanover County. Activities include arts & crafts, sports & games, field trips, special visitors and more. For more information about the program and general FAQ's please click here.

Dates of Program

New for 2010: Make the most of your child’s summer, and sign up for just those sessions of summer camp that your child will be attending! This new multiple session structure is designed to provide flexibility for parents and help in making plans for your child’s fun-filled summer.

Days:   Monday - Thursday
Times:  8am - 4:30pm
Dates: Session 1         June 28 – July 8 (no camp July 5, due to Independence Day holiday)
             Session 2         July 12 – 22
             Session 3         July 26 – August 5

Fee

Fee per session: $100 Hanover County residents, $150 non-Hanover County residents

Each session will include a field trip and a variety of special visitors, in addition to creative and fun daily recreational activities. Campers regsitered for the first session will receive a Youth Summer Program t-shirt which they will have the opportunity to decorate while at camp.

Camp Locations & Registration

Registration for Hanover County residents for all camp locations will begin the weekend of April 24 & 25 at the Wickham Building located at the Hanover County Government Complex (7496 County Complex Road, Hanover, VA 23069). Details with specific registration times are below. Registration for non-Hanover County residents will begin Friday, May 7.

Hanover County Residents - How to Register:

  • Parent/legal guardian complete and sign registration form. Note: only those family residing within your household may be on the same registration form.
  • Make payment by check (payable to "Hanover County"), credit card, or cash (correct change).
  • Hanover Conty residents must be current through April 5, 2010 on payment of Hanover County Personal Property Taxes and Hanover County Real Estate Tax Payments and be prepared to show proof of residency (driver's license, state issued ID Card or tax statement).
  • Only one registration form per person will be accepted on registration days. Completed registrations will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
  • Hanover County Parks and Recreation will accept registrations via US Mail, walk-in and drop boxes located at Pole Green Community Center and Taylor Complex after April 25 as long as spaces are available. Use this registration form and refer to the course numbers above. Registration forms that are received prior to April 24 will not be considered nor processed until April 26.

Non-Hanover County Residents - How to Register:

  • Out of County registrations will be accepted (as space permits) beginning Friday May 7th at Parks and Recreation Offices.
  • Please use this registration form and refer to the course numbers above. Registration forms that are received prior to May 7th will not be considered nor processed until May 7th.

Therapeutic Recreation Aide Assistance Program

Children with disabilities who are interested in securing the assistance of a Therapeutic Recreation Aide should inquire about the Therapeutic Recreation Aide Assistance Program. Packets are available for download here.
