What are Fun Funds and How Do You Qualify?
Fun Funds is a financial assistance program of Hanover County, with funds available to assist with the cost of the Youth Summer Program offered by Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department. Financial assistance is based on USDA’s Free/Reduced Lunch Program.
How to Apply for Fun Funds
- Submit a completed Fun Funds Financial Assistance Application form to the Recreation Program Director.
- A letter of recommendation must accompany the application from a professional (social worker, caseworker, teacher, counselor, or pastor) who can attest to the applicant’s financial need.
- Only one application per household may be submitted. Multiple participants within the same household should be included on this from.
Fun Funds Guidelines
- Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department does not guarantee any financial
assistance to applicants. Residents of Hanover County will be given first priority and
funds will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. Proof of residency may be
required.
- Assistance is for the Youth Summer Program (elementary school children that have
completed kindergarten through 4th grade and middle school that have completed
children 5th grade through 7th grade.)
- Hanover County Department of Recreation does not provide transportation to any
program campsite.
- Hanover County Department of Recreation reserves the right to limit the number of
scholarships based upon funds available and to politely decline funding for applicants
that do not meet the scholarship guidelines.
- All scholarship requests shall be approved or denied by the Recreation Program
Director.
- Applicants will be notified by mail or by phone prior to the activity starting, provided the
application form was received by March 30, 2012.
- No applicant in any way will be favored or discriminated against solely because of race,
creed, national origin, sex, age, handicap, political opinion, or religious belief.
Special Notes
- Scholarship approval is required prior to registration.
- This application does not register your child for the Youth Summer Program; you
must still register for the summer program.
