Rabies Vaccination Clinic At Mechanicsville VFD

Hanover County Animal Control will hold a rabies vaccination clinic this Saturday, December 5, at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Company from 9 a.m. until noon. The Mechanicsville Fire Station is located at 7161 Stonewall Parkway.

The cost of the vaccination shot is $7 per dog or cat. The veterinarian will give the shots at your vehicle without you having to bring your pet inside.

All dogs and cats are required by law to be vaccinated at four months of age. You also must have tags and a valid license proving the vaccination.

Rabies is a serious public health problem in Hanover County, with 28 animals having been confirmed as having rabies so far this year, including four domestic cats. This is the second-highest figure on record in Hanover County, and brings the total of rabies cases in the last three years to 75.
