Planning Commission
The Hanover County Planning Commission consists of seven citizens
who are appointed to four year terms by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission holds public hearings on all rezoning cases and
conditional use permit requests and makes recommendations for
approval or denial to the Board of Supervisors. The Commission
also makes recommendations on land use policy issues through the
Comprehensive Plan, and Subdivision and Zoning Ordinances. The
Commission also handles administrative matters such as the approval
of preliminary site and subdivision plans. The Planning Commision
meets at 6:30p.m. on the third Thursday of each month in the Board
Room of the Government Building at Hanover Courthouse. The Commission
schedules other meetings as needed. David P. Maloney is the Planning
