The Regional Jail
The Pamunkey Regional Jail is a new state-of-the-art facility with a housing capacity of 400 male and female inmates.
The jail opened March 1, 1998
and serves the counties of Hanover and Caroline and the Town of
Ashland. The total area of the jail is 127,000 square feet. The
jail has fourteen housing units. Also, the jail provides a physical training room, a lounge, and many more
incentives for the staff.

Pamunkey Regional Jail is but one part of the Criminal Justice
System. All inmates housed at the facility are treated in a humane,
dignified, and constitutional manner until released. The jail serves
the needs of all user agencies, law enforcement, courts, attorneys,
and community organizations.
