We are a progressive agency and all members of the Hanover County Sheriff's Office strive to provide the best law enforcement services to the citizens of Hanover County. The Hanover County Sheriff's office practices the philosophy of community oriented and problem solving policing. Our motto - "Continuing to be a part of, not apart from, the community" - is vital to the valuable relationship we are fortunate to enjoy with our citizens. Through planning, both operationally and administratively, frugal budget practices, and expert training this department is rated as one of the highest law enforcement agencies in the State. We are proud of this achievement and it is through teamwork among our staff and support from our county that we are able to achieve this outstanding reputation.
In November, 2009, the Sheriff's Office achieved international reaccreditation through CALEA standards. State accreditation was achieved in 1999 through VALEPSC, and we received our 2nd reaccredidation in 2010. We are proud to hold the highest ranking in the State.
