A Chaplain's Testimony

As a chaplain with the Hanover Sheriff's Office, I found myself in both situations of great sadness and joy. I have had the rewarding experience of praying over academy recruits as they graduate and have also responded to some difficult situations.

I remember my very first chaplain call. A toddler was found wandering the streets and deputies discovered the child had wandered out of the home after her father had just passed away from a heart attack. I met with the child's family for many hours. We talked and prayed together, and I helped them through some of the tough decisions they had to make.

The mother later called and thanked me for being there to help her and her family. Before we ended the conversation, she said she was going to tell everyone about the kindness of the Hanover Sheriff's Office and the Sheriff's Pastor.
