Food Assistance (SNAP-Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) On-line Application

 
This application program affords individuals access to the Food Assistance program by applying on-line at: https://commonhelp.virginia.gov/access/

Internet access is available at most public libraries statewide.

Also, community organizations including food banks, homeless shelters and faith based organizations will educate prospective clients about the program and may assist them in completing the on-line application.

The application should take approximately 15 – 45 minutes to complete. The applicant will receive a confirmation number and contact information for the appropriate local department of social services. The application will be routed to the department of social services based on the county or city where the applicant lives. The social services agency will notify the applicant that the application processing does not begin until the signature page of the application is signed and received. The signature page can be mailed to the applicant to have it signed and then returned by mail or in person to the social services agency.
