Tax Payment Methods
Pay Online 
You have the option to pay your County taxes here by E-check or Credit Card. All E-Check transactions are processed through Sun Trust. Credit Card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA) transactions are processed through Verisign, Inc., and there is a small convenience fee for this service. After you enter the amount you wish to pay in tax, the system will calculate the fee and add the fee to the payment. Prior to authorization, you may cancel the transaction if the fee is unacceptable to you. The system will generate a confirmation number, which you should retain for your records. Payments processed by midnight on a due date are considered on-time.

Please Note: Online Tax Services will be unavailable during normal
maintenance procedures which are scheduled for Sunday mornings
from 2:30-3:30 a.m., and on the second Friday of each month from
7:30-8:30 a.m.
Pay Over the Phone
You have the option to pay your County taxes over the phone with a Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express). Call 1-888-2PAY TAX (1-888-272-9829) and follow the instructions. When paying over the phone you need to provide Hanover County's jurisdiction code: 1020.
Official Payments processes the credit card transactions and there is a small fee for this convenience. You may pay your County taxes in person at our office. We are located in the Wickham Building (room 114) at the County Courthouse Complex.

New in 2007, pay by credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and VISA) or by debit card at the Treasurer's Office. All credit card transactions are assessed a convenience fee.
Pay By Drop Box
Checks and Money Orders (NO CASH) can be dropped in our 24-hr. curbside drop box. Look for the white box located in the parking lot between the Wickham Building and the Wickham Building Annex at the Hanover County Government Complex. Payments deposited in the drop box by 8 am, will be emptied each day and marked as received with the previous day's date.
Payment Programs
Pre-payment programs are available for citizens who would like to make monthly payments on their real estate or personal property tax liability in advance of the due date. For your convenience, you have the option of making payments online via the Treasurer’s E-Gov On-Line Services or by more traditional means with coupon books included below.
